Andrew Rissik

Managing Director of Forex and International Projects

Andrew grew up in South Africa, where he was educated at Michaelhouse and Stellenbosch University. He served as an officer in the South African Navy before completing his management training with McCarthy Group and relocating to their UK operation in 1994. After this, he was involved in start-up businesses and business turnarounds before returning to South Africa in 2004. He established a company that facilitated the investment of UK client money into the emerging South African property market, successfully selling his interests before being appointed to head up Sable International's forex division. Here, he focuses on forex transfers out of South Africa.

Outside of work, Andrew is a keen sailor who has competed internationally and spends many weekends away, either sailing or enjoying the outdoors with his wife and two children.

Andrew’s motto: "Nothing so conclusively proves a man's ability to lead others as what he does from day to day to lead himself."

Gemma Cloete

Forex Manager - Client Relations and Business Development

Gemma Cloete

Gemma was raised and schooled in sunny Cape Town, South Africa. After school she spent two years living and working in the UK, where she was able to indulge her passion for travel. After returning to South Africa, she studied business management and computing before quickly being snapped up by Sable International.

Several years and three promotions later, Gemma holds the position of co-manager of the Cape Town forex department, where she is responsible for client relations, marketing and new business development. She brings an outstanding enthusiasm, dedication and knowledge of the company to the role.

Outside of work, Gemma enjoys exploring Cape Town (the old and the new), wining and dining in Stellenbosch’s wine estates and spending weekends away with friends and family.

Gemma’s Motto: "If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door." – Milton Berle

Calvin Matsaure

BTech (Business Management)

Forex Manager - Operations

Calvin joined Sable International’s forex division in 2014 after working as a business development consultant for Emerging Stars, an investment lending company based in Cape Town. Within three years Calvin has risen to co-manager and is responsible for operational and treasury functions, as well as overseeing the brokerage team. He uses his experience and determination to spur his team forward.

After enrolling for Electrical Engineering for one semester at the University of Zimbabwe, he decided to pursue something in line with his passion for business. He went on to graduate cum laude from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology with a B(Tech) degree in Business Management. He is concurrently completing his CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and FRM (Financial Risk Manager) qualifications.

While his childhood dream of being a professional footballer might not have worked out, in his spare time Calvin still likes to train. He also makes the most of living near the sea, enjoying beach runs and splendid sunsets.

Calvin’s motto: “Opportunities come infrequently. When it rains gold, put out the bucket, not the thimble.” - Warren Buffet

Tim Smith

National Development Manager

Tim Smith

Tim spent the best part of two decades in global markets at one of Australia's major banks, assisting individuals, businesses and organisations with risk management strategies across interest rates, commodities and foreign exchange.

We discovered Tim facilitating information sessions for local councils, educating importers and exporters about how the foreign exchange market works and "all the dirty tricks” used against them.

"I'm tired of people, businesses and charities getting ripped off by the big banks in their foreign exchange" was the reason he gave when we asked why he was running the sessions. We knew we had to hire him, his morals and beliefs matching Sable International's perfectly.

Tim doesn't cold call (unlike most in the forex industry), but you will meet him out and about at various events making new connections and gaining new clients. As a networker and connector, Tim is able to introduce his clients to a variety of specialists that can assist their businesses growth both domestically and internationally while also helping them save money on their international money transfers.

Outside of work, Tim and his family are avid computer gamers. Fiction writing is another passion and he is working eagerly towards seeing his first book on a store shelf.

Tim's motto: "We're all unique and different. Those that positively accept the differences of others lead happier and more enriched lives, whilst those that choose to focus negatively on the differences of others will only attract negativity and unhappiness to theirs."
