Start-up visa

The UK Start-up visa is for new entrepreneurs who want to set up a new business in the UK for the first time. A big drawcard of this visa is that you do not need to be a graduate or have secured any initial funding to apply. You must, however, have an innovative, viable and scalable business idea which has been approved by an endorsing body.

Start-up visa requirements

In addition to the above, you must also:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Meet the English language requirement
  • Be able to prove that you have enough personal savings to support yourself while you’re in the UK

Bring your family along with you

Your family can join you as your dependants. Their visas will be valid for the same length of time as yours. There are financial and eligibility requirements that must be met before your dependants can apply.

If you’re in the UK on an eligible visa, you may be able to switch to this visa. You will need to meet the requirements of the Start-up visa to make the switch.
