Sable International helps South Africans acquire dual citizenship

by John Dunn | Dec 03, 2015
  • In most global destinations, South Africans usually require visas to work, live and even travel. Acquiring these permits can be time consuming and expensive. Sable Nationality specialises in helping South Africans apply for British, Irish and Portuguese nationality.

    How we help South Africans

We are nationality specialists with a focus on three European nations: The UK, Ireland and Portugal. All three have widely accepted and highly regarded passports that will open up the world to you in a way your South African passport cannot.

    British citizenship

Sable has been helping South Africans to secure British nationality for the last two decades. Through our associates, Philip Gamble & Partners, we find solutions for people with claims to British nationality through descent, naturalisation or any other operation of law.

The UK’s nationality laws are extremely complex and difficult to navigate, but Philip Gamble is a leading expert on these matters. If you have family that was born in Britain, be it England or any one of its territories, you could have a claim to British nationality. We can help you pursue that claim.

    Irish citizenship

Similarly, our expertise extend to Ireland and Northern Ireland. If you have a parent who is Irish or if you grandparent was born in Ireland or Northern Ireland, you could be eligible for Irish nationality.

    Portuguese/EU residency and citizenship

The Portuguese Golden Visa Programme (also known as the GRPP) gives South Africans a unique opportunity to secure European residency and, potentially, EU citizenship, via a capital investment in Portugal.

The most common form of investment is the purchasing of a property valued at €500,000 or more. There are other ways in which you can take part in the Golden Visa Programme, which you can read about here. It’s worth noting that this programme is open to all non-EU citizens.

The benefits of having dual citizenship

Below are a few of the benefits to having a passport from either Britain, Ireland or Portugal:
    • You can pass on your citizenship from either country to your children
    • Any children you have will have access to education abroad
    • You can live and work without restriction in both of the countries that have granted you passports
    • Emigrating to the country as a national of that country is much simpler
    • Travel and leisure will become much easier and more affordable
    • In a globalised world, it is advantageous to have as few barriers to travel as possible

If you’d like to explore your nationality options with an expert, call us on +27 (0) 21 657 2122 or send us an email and we’ll get back to you.
